Trend Report :Cat Eye Sunglasses Get a Modern Makeover

We understand why Wayfarers have been the go-to shades for the past few seasons—the shape is classic and it suits so many faces. But we are more than ready to see things a little differently. Cat eye frames are the newest (oldest!) shape du jour, and designers are definitely having some fun playing around with this classic '50s staple. For their spring 2010 shows, Alexander Wang, Giles Deacon, and Miuccia Prada revealed oversized versions of the frames in statement-making colors like gold, hot pink, and orange. Model and It-girl Dree Hemingway wasted no time sporting the Deacon specs right off the runway. Christian Dior and Proenza Schouler are now offering pared-down sleeker versions, and we're happy to see Mary-Kate Olsen in something that doesn't entirely overwhelm her pretty face. But if you like that bug-eyed Rachel Zoe look, Betsey Johnson and Balenciaga have some vintage-inspired options. Yes, looking like a Pink Lady just got a bit easier.

Trend Report:Hermès ‘Constance’

Bye bye slouchy bags! The new shape for bags is small and square with a long strap and ‘retro-feel’. While everyone else seems to go crazy about Celine’s Heritage model I’d rather take that money straight to Hermès. Not exactly an understatement accessory, the classic ‘Constance’ does offer a prestige that is priceless. Plus we probably won’t get tired of it all too soon as Hermès bags always stay refreshingly fad-resistant!

Fashion Report: Mary-Kate Olsen Goes Gypsy-Chic for Marie Claire

Triple threat: Mary-Kate Olsen on two of her three Marie Claire September covers. Photos courtesy of Marie Claire
Mary-Kate Olsen is flying solo on the cover of Marie Claire's September issue.
The former child star/current style icon gave twin sister Ashley the slip for the fashion-forward shoot, which has her striking a pose in sequins, a military coat, and feathers in three dazzling cover images.

The issue also sees Olsen channeling her inner gypsy woman in a sheer black Giambattista Valli dress paired with a Dolce & Gabbana jacket from which gold charms dangle.

On location at The Inn in Quogue, New York, photographer Tesh snapped The Row designer in a series of images that highlight Olsen's eccentric boho-chic style -- think fur, ankle-sweeping skirts, and effortlessly tousled blonde locks.
The 24-year-old starlet wears chunky furs from Marc JacobsDoo.ri, Cassin, and Alexander McQueen with everything from a sweet ballerina pink Dior dress and Topshop skirt to a sexy candy-apple redGivenchy dress with matching boots.
The accessories, too, are powerful, ranging from a quirky antler headpiece from Anne Valerie Hash to bling from Stephen Webster.
In between donning some seriously covetable clothing, Olsen opened up to writer Kimberly Cutter about her design career, saying, "It's kind of like a mask to hide behind."

"It took us a year-and-a-half to make the first T-shirt," she says of The Row.
"I still read scripts, and if something great comes along, that's great... but this is my day job.
"The Row is where I go every day."
Does that mean there won't be an "It Takes Two 2"? Say it ain't so!

Mary Kate Olsen For Marie Claire

Mary Kate Olsen For Marie Claire

Mary Kate Olsen graced the cover for the US version of Marie Claire magazine. We JUST saw Drew Barrymore's UK cover a few minutes ago. Today is the day for MC!

Here are a few excerpts from the actress turned designer's interview:

On her 'Full House' days: "I look at old photos of me, and I don't feel connected to them at all… I would never wish my upbringing on anyone…"

On what she learned from Heath Ledger's death: "I think it's really important to be able to talk when something's wrong. I learned at a really young age that if you don't talk about it, it can drive you insane."

On her dedication to 'The Row':
"It took us a year-and-a-half to make the first T-shirt,"

On whether or not she wants to continue to act:
"I still read scripts, and if something great comes along, that's great … but this is my day job. The Row is where I go every day."

Fashion Report:Promoting Elizabeth & James at Holt Renfrew in Toronto

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were at the Holt Renfrew in Toronto this week, to present their Elizabeth and James collection.
Mary-Kate wore a black coat/dress worn with a leather belt, and a stand out pair of bejeweled pair Miu Miu Cabachon heels.

Ashley opted for a simple sweater and white Elizabeth and James Edith shorts, paired with a few necklaces and stunning Prada studded t-bar sandals.

The girls looked great, but it was their heels that stood out for me.

Fashion Report:Ashley and Mary-Kate's Laced Ears

Girls just wanna have fun. That's exactly what Ashley and Mary-Kate did this past weekend at the Opening Ceremony reception in Japan, when they paired Maison Michel's laced ears with their LBDs — was Madonna on to something? Check out Ashley donning quirky lace Mickey Mouse ears with an LBD from The Row collection, cream coat, Ralph Lauren tortoise sunglasses, studded sandals, and funky red handbag — both from Prada.
Mary-Kate complemented her rabbit ears with a ruffly Toga frock, Prada ankle wrap platforms, and a studded bag from the same designer. No doubt, the two are known for their unique style — play this game to see if you can tell the two apart — and kudos to them for making fashion fun. What do you make of their latest fashion statement?
