Biography
Originally from Bury, Greater Manchester, Atkinson took her GCSEs at Castlebrook High School before becoming a commercial and photographic model.


Actress and television personality
Atkinson rose to fame playing Lisa Hunter on the Channel 4 teenage soap opera Hollyoaks. Atkinson and Marcus Patric (who played the character Ben Davies) subsequently appeared in a "spin-off" series called Hollyoaks: Let Loose for E4, in which their characters started a new life together in Chester. This was followed by Hollyoaks: In the City also screened on the E4 network.

Atkinson played Goldie Lookin Chain's love interest in the music video for the single R'n'B and featured on the cover of the CD single release. She has appeared as a contestant on Reality TV series such Celebrity Weakest Link (with Marcus Patric) in December 2006, ITV1's Soapstar Superstar, reaching the last four stage, and Celebrity Masterchef.

In September 2007, Atkinson did a 5km charity run for Breast Cancer awareness. In October 2007, Atkinson played herself in an episode of the Channel 4 pilot series Comedy Showcase: Plus one.

In November 2007, she appeared on ITV1 in I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, in Australia, coming fifth in the competition.

On 15/16 Mar 2008 Gemma co-presented the Play.com Live gamers expo at Wembley stadium with Virgin Radio presenter Iain Lee.

In 2008, Atkinson will star in the British independent film Boogie Woogie alongside Heather Graham. According to press reports, Atkinson is also planning to launch a music career.

She will embark upon a 228 km walk along the Great Wall of China in April 2008 as part of a charity event organised by Olivia Newton-John's breast cancer awareness charity where she will be joined by various celebrities and cancer survivors.Gemma will be joined on her section of the walk by celebrities Marcus Patric and Ant and Dec amongst others. Gemma visited The Home and Garden Show at Chester Racecourse,on the 5th June,to unveil the room she designed with furniture store owner Arighi Bianchi which would be suitable for teenagers in conjunction with Teenage Cancer Trust charity. Her room design later won first prize and she collected a trophy for her efforts.

It was created in association with Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT)the Home and Garden Show's official charity, and the design will now be incorporated into the TCT unit at Christie Hospital, Manchester. Gemma has also been asked to become a full ambassador for the TCT charity.

In December 2008 Gemma is scheduled to appear in Peter Pan at the Manchester Opera House. She will take the title role alongside John Thomson who will play Captain Hook.[citation needed]

In early 2006, Atkinson underwent breast enlargement surgery, which took her bra size to a 34E. She said in an interview that she lost weight due to a fitness regime and her bust size declined. The surgery then gave them the original shape they once were.

Since launching her parallel career as a glamour model, Atkinson has appeared in provocative photoshoots in lingerie and swimwear, including non-nude topless shots, for men's magazines such as Arena, FHM, Loaded, Maxim, Zoo Weekly and Nuts. Mallika Sherawat to sue Ram Gopal Varma

It is reported in the media that Bollywood bombshell Mallika Sherawat is gearing up to sue filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma for misusing one of her pictures in his latest film ‘Contract’. It is also known that Mallika never forgoes any opportunity to steal the limelight and keep coming as a hot news item.

The photo in question that has infuriated Mallika is featured in a scene of Ramu’s film ‘Contract’, where a police inspector is shown as talking suggestively to Mallika’s photograph and getting aroused at the same time.

Mallika has reportedly said that Ram Gopal Varma will soon be receiving a legal notice. Aura Kasih Mengguncang Soundrenaline 2008 Batam

Penonton Soundrenaline 2008 Batam begitu terpana ketika melihat penampilan seksi Aura Kasih. Gara-gara penampilannya yang 'panas', penonton pun sampai dibuat kebasahan.

“Air…air…air,” teriak penonton Soundrenaline 2008 saat menyaksikkan penampilan Aura Kasih di panggung utama di Stadion Tumenggung Abdul Jamal, Batam, Minggu (27/7/2008). Selain karena teriknya matahari kota Batam, penonton sepertinya tersihir dengan goyangan seksi pelantun 'Mari Bercinta Itu'. Mobil pemadam kebakaran pun langsung menyemprotkan air ke arah penonton yang membuat mereka kebasahan dan makin bersemangat.

Ditanya soal penampilannya yang menarik penonton karena seksi, Aura merasa bangga. “Itu anugrah aja. Seksi itu nggak dibuat-buat. Penampilan aku kan yang nilai Tuhan. Kalau imej aku seksi, ya nggak apa-apa,” ujarnya santai saat ditemui di Press Room Soundrenaline 2008 Batam, Minggu (27/7/2008) siang.

Aura Pun menegaskan, sebagai penyanyi dirinya tetap mengandalkan suara. Penampilannya kali ini juga sebagai pembuktian kalau suaranya juga disukai oleh masyarakat Batam. “Kalau penampilan seksi itu nggak dibuat-buat. Aura Kasih: Emang Seksi Ya?

Dari Awal kemunculannya, penyanyi Aura Kasih telah membentuk imej seksi pada setiap penampilannya. Namun Aura Kasih mengaku tidak pernah mau mengumbar pakaian seksi.

Menurut pelantun 'Ayo Bercinta' itu seksi tidak harus dilihat dari penampilan. Cara bicara dan bersikap kepada orang lain juga bisa dianggap seksi.

“Seksi itu bisa dilihat dari sifat lho. Tapi memang sebagian besar pria memang seksi dari fisik,” ujar Aura Kasih ditemui di Gedung Pewayangan, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Jakarta Timur, Sabtu (26/7/2008) malam.

Namun kendati demikian Aura Kasih tak membantah jika video klip pertamanya memang memakai pakaian minim dengan tarian eksotik. Sementara di video klip kedua juga penampilan panggungnya, Aura Kasih lebih berhati-hati dalam memilih pakaian.

“Emang seksi ya? Nggak lah, aku nggak mau ngumbar fesyen yang terlalu seksi,” jelas Aura Kasih.

Mallika Sherawat slaps Ranvir Shorey repeatedly

Pritish Nandy Communications’ film Ugly Aur Pagli directed by Sachin Khot is a slap-comedy, a story about a modern woman who fully dominates the man in her life. The in-thing in this movie seems to be male-bashing - the story mandates that Mallika slap him again and again. Hats off, have your belly-full of many slapping scenes that Mallika seems not to have enjoyed, slapping, slapping and slapping, but she was feeling extremely awkward in this role.

There are many scenes in which Ranvir Shorey has to get slapped 99 times by Mallika Sherawat. But Mallika Sherawat was very hesitant and felt very awkward to slap him again and again. And to add to her misery each slap would have to be re-shot.

So Ranvir Shorey, seeing Mallika Sherawat's discomfort, decided to help out. He started rehearsing the angles and how many different ways in which Mallika Sherawat could slap him.
Sachin Khot, the director of Ugly Aur Pagli added, "Ranvir and Mallika are simply mind-blowing as actors… They are very professional and natural actors. Ranvir was supposed to get slapped by Mallika almost 99 times through out the film. To help Mallika, on the sets Ranvir and Mallika used to sit down and device different techniques of slapping. I was stunned to see Ranvir sitting with Mallika and teaching her how to slap him. It was so funny we were all in splits”.

Director Sachin Khot, who forays into Bollywood with the forthcoming romantic comedy Ugly Aur Pagli, is all praise for the lead lady and Bollywood's hottest oomph girl Mallika Sherawat. "In the film, Mallika is the beauty with the brains and she meets a geek (Ranvir Shorey). The story is about how they ultimately fall in love with each other," said Khot.

He further added, "It is a humorous talk on today's relationships and how the tables have turned, where the men are from Venus and women are from Mars and how they are actually playing each other's role.”

On the character played by Mallika director Khot said, "In today's age, women are doing much better in lots of spheres and why shouldn't this be touched upon? Mallika plays a dominating character in the film, but I would not literally call her the man of my film. Luckily, both my actors shared a good chemistry.”

Ranvir Shorey, the male lead who faces Mallika's wrath in the film, said, "It is crazy to even think that a girl is making you do the wildest of things and has complete control over you. One might think that it makes a man effeminate. However, there is an interesting side to it also that how two unlikeliest people fall in love with each other."

Asin, one of the most prominent leading actresses of South Indian Cinema, is said to have signed two new films in Bollywood, even before her first Hindi film Ghajini opposite Aamir Khan hits the theatres.

Reports say that this Malayalee actress has agreed to star in Vipul Shah's London Dreams, in which she will be paired opposite Salman Khan. She has also signed a film to be directed by Priyadarshan opposite Akshay Kumar. However, official confirmation is yet to come. Meanwhile, rumors have it that the release date of Ghajini has changed from October 2 to a later day. Anyway, Asin has already turned one of the hottest newcomers with a couple of films with Bollywood big boys.

After a number of critically and commercially successful films, she received her second South Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her performance in her second Tamil film, Ghajini in 2005. She played the lead female roles in two consecutive top grossers, Ghajini being her biggest commercial success to date.

Sanjay Ramaswamy (Surya) is a rich businessman who owns a cellular phone company named Air Voice and the events surrounding his relationship with Kalpana (Asin).

Kalpana, an ad model goes around telling her crew that she is the love interest of Sanjay. She does this in spite of her having never met him. She goes to the extent of giving an interview about her relationship to a popular magazine. Sanjay comes to hear about this through the media and wants to settle scores with her. On his way, he catches a fleeting glimpse of a young woman (who happens to be Kalpana) helping handicapped children to cross a street. It is love at first sight for Sanjay. He moves on to confront Kalpana at her advertisement studio. He is pleasantly surprised to realize that she is the same helpful woman he saw a while ago. He chooses to hide the fact from her that he is Sanjay, calling himself as Manohar. Kalpana eventually falls in love with him.

On a train to Mumbai, Kalpana saves a group of young girls from abuse by a group of goons led by Lakshman (Pradeep Rawat). Later the goons come to Kalpana's house for revenge. Incidentally, Sanjay arrives there and fights the goons, but during fight Kalpana is murdered. The irony is that Kalpana never knows that he is Sanjay. Lakshman then strikes the downcast Sanjay on his head severely with a metal rod. Sanjay survives the blow, but suffers from a lapse of memory. He cannot remember anything that happened more than 15 minutes back. He frequently has flashbacks of Kalpana's murder. He determines to take revenge on Kalpana's murderers. The rest of the story is about how Sanjay, along with a medical college student, Chitra (Nayantara), goes about finding Lakshman and his gang.
